While most businesses with commercial offices or storefronts have scaled down and work from home, I made the decision to do the opposite. It may sound crazy to expand during a pandemic but the current circumstances led to unique leasing opportunities in commercial real estate that I could not pass up.

It all started when a friend of mine moved across country and trusted me to design her new home remotely. Since then, I have added a variety of virtual interior design services to my list from consulting, accessorizing, to full-room design.
Virtual Design: Family Room Transformation in Oradell, NJ
We recently had the pleasure of transforming a family room in Oradell, NJ through virtual design. The entire room was designed virtually and all project information, digital moodboards, 3-D renderings, floorplans, and furniture options were sent digitally through our user-friendly platform.
We start every project with a design consultation, in this case, it was a Virtual Consultation to learn more about her lifestyle, design aesthetic, and project details. As a busy mother of four children, their family lifestyle was very active and filled with entertaining and play dates.
When purchasing their home, the massive family room was a huge selling point but arranging the furniture in the room was a challenge. They have tried so many different layouts and moved the television to different walls, only to face the similar spatial issues.
How to Spark Joy at Home: Part 2
In part 1 of How to Spark Joy at Home, I had defined what home means, how it serves many purposes, not only does home serve as our shelter but it is a vessel of memories as well. As a certified Design Psychology specialist, I had shared the deep emotional connection to our dwellings and ways to cultivate more joy at home. If you haven’t read part 1 yet, I highly recommend you start there first.
The sense of home is subjective. It could be described and feel differently based on the individual. My portfolio is a perfect example of this. When I start a new design project, I always ask how do you want the room to feel? Nearly every one of my clients has expressed to me that they want their home to feel homey. If you look at my portfolio, you will see how the word “homey” has been translated into so many different design styles. That is because the sense of home is based on the individual and their own life experiences.
How to Spark Joy at Home: Part 1
During times of social distancing and fear, finding ways to spark joy may take a bit longer to cultivate these days. However, being home for an extended period of time doesn’t have to be negative. There are many simple ways that you can spark joy at home, and I will share how in this post.
But first, let’s define what home means…
Home can mean different things to different people. Home could be your current residence, reference your homeland, or a place where you feel the most peace which may not be a dwelling at all!
Whichever that sense of home is to you, home is our safe haven. It is where we retreat to replenish the soul, so we could go out into the world and accomplish great things. We may not be able to physically go out in the world at this time but we still can accomplish great things from home.
The Coronavirus Impacts the Home Industry
The Coronavirus (COVID-19) is raising global concern and numbers of those infected with the virus is increasing. In precaution, people are stockpiling on hand sanitizer, soap, Lysol, and toilet paper. While I am not stockpiling my home with soap and toilet tissue; I am more concerned about the magnitude of the virus and what this means for communities, families, events, tourism, global economies, businesses, and other industries. As an Interior Designer, my industry colleagues and I, are starting to feel how the Coronavirus impacts the home industry.
Teen Bedroom Makeover in West Caldwell, NJ
There comes a time where a child outgrows their bedroom and develop their own personal style. The once “cute” kids bedroom is now not-so-cute anymore, and perhaps starting to feel a little embarrassing when friends come over. I recently had the pleasure of designing a teen girl’s bedroom in West Caldwell, NJ. I transformed the teen bedroom in one weekend with the help of my team and our Styled in a Day service.
